Announcing the resignation of Corey Clark and Wes Buschang as our General Managers effective July 13, 2026. The duo have done some excellent work for Ptarmigan Village, and we are grateful.

As we conduct the search for a new General Manager, we've posted the job description on several online job portals, such as Indeed and Glassdoor.  Please let us know if you have a contact you think would be good for the role.

We plan to conduct interviews via zoom as well as in person and hope to have the position filled in June.

Winter Fire Safety
Please do not dispose of partially burned wood or ashes off decks or into common areas. Use proper ash cans to minimize fire risk, and ensure your renters and guests are aware as well.

Wildfire Fuels Reduction and Defensible Space Creation Update
  • At the 2019 AGM, a hazardous fuels reduction program was approved by the membership. Management applied for and received grants to mitigate costs.
  • Summer 2020, the program commenced thinning wooded common areas, excluding roads, buildings, pond, pools, courts, etc.
  • February 2023, a Wildfire Risk Assessment Report prepared by Big Sky Forestry and Wildfire Mitigation, LLC and Guardian Forestry LLC proposed a six-figure thinning project to create defensible space around structures.
  • October 2025, Big Mountain Tree Service marked “hazardous trees” with blue, green and orange ribbons to determine priority.
Blue: Trees should be trimmed/limbed away from structures, walking paths, or parking areas.
Green:  Trees/bushes should be removed because they are too close to buildings or are dry ladder fuel.
Orange:  Trees should be removed to significantly reduce fire hazard. These include dead trees that will eventually fall; trees with significant lean or unsafe multi-stem canopies which have a high likelihood to fall; and trees that have erosion at the base or an increasingly unstable root structure.

Warmer winter temperatures have provided access to areas that are typically unreachable this time of year and allowed our maintenance team to get a head start on removing small fallen trees and limbs.
